Like the S54, S65 rod bearings are a service item — do them before chasing rpm, not after the knock.
Throttle actuators are the S65’s known electrical wear item. Budget one; they rarely fail in pairs but always at night.
04 The typical path
Intake → headers → tune → cams or forced induction. NA gains are honest but small; the big unlock is boost, and boost starts at the fuel system.
